When DJ Instruments engineers reviewed the requirements list for this special piece of food processing equipment, its length was exceeded only by its degree of difficulty.

The pressure sensors its designers wanted had to measure very high pressure (60,000 psi) with zero internal dead volume. It must meet precise requirements for pipe diameter (0.25 inch inside) and other geometries. It must utilize a specific connector type. It must be fully autoclavable, and totally free of crevices where particles could adhere. The pressure sensors had to be fully sealed, to eliminate leaks that would damage the electronics. Additionally, those electronics had to be incorporated as part of the product. The entire assembly must be exceptionally robust. Finally, the project had to meet some extremely challenging lead times.

DJ Instruments specialists were up to every challenge. They worked through all the internal design and manufacturing issues at an accelerated pace, and coordinated three separate external vendors to obtain and machine the required piping. Result: a flow-through pressure sensor that met every single criterion the customer had demanded.

Subsequently, we've applied versions of that pressure sensor to satisfy customers requiring varying tubing lengths and sizes, as well as pressure levels from 30 to 60,000 psi.
